The SDPA offers a number of special events during each of its conferences. Below is a list of events at our Annual Summer Dermatology Conference in Washington, D.C.


Legislative Fly-In: Capitol Hill Day 2019

Date/Time: Wednesday, June 5 – 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Capitol Hill | Meeting location to be determined.

SDPA, in partnership with AAPA, is pleased to extend a special invitation to PAs in dermatology attending the SDPA Annual Summer Conference 2019 in DC to participate in SDPA’s Capitol Hill Day on Wednesday, June 5.

What is the Hill Day? On Wednesday, June 5, from 1:00-5:00pm, join forces with your fellow PAs from across the country in conducting face-to-face meetings with Members of Congress and staff on the key legislative issues that directly affect the future of the profession and the patients you serve.

Arrival Reception

Date/Time: Wednesday, June 5 – 6:30pm to 11:00pm
Located in Meeting Level 2 Marquis Ballroom area.

Kick off the week with this reception held at the end of pre-conference program and during early general conference registration; enjoy snacks and beverages upon arrival.


Welcome Event – Red, White and You!

Date/Time: Thursday, June 6th – 6:30pm to 11:00pm
Located off property at the Sequoia Restaurant on the waterfront in Georgetown.

Join us for food, drinks and entertainment as we celebrate SDPA’s 25th Anniversary at the beautiful Sequoia Restaurant overlooking the Potomac River. We ask everyone to wear Red or White in keeping with our theme. You won’t want to miss this. More information coming soon.

All registered attendees will be contacted via email as we get closer to the event and provided with further detailed information. Transportation to and from the venue will be provided.

VIP Reception

By invitation only.

Date/Time: Friday, June 7 – 6:00pm to 10:00pm
Located on the Odyssey Dinner and Monuments Cruise

The SDPA VIP Reception is a unique evening honoring our exceptional SDPA Diplomates, Leaders, Industry Partners, and Faculty. This exclusive, by invitation only, event includes food; drinks, music and dancing as we view the Monuments while cruising onboard the Odyssey.

All eligible attendees will be contacted via email as we get closer to the event and provided with further detailed information.

Farewell RECEPTION

Date/Time: Saturday, June 8 – 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Located in the Meeting Level 2 Marquis Ballroom area.

Join us on Saturday evening for the Farewell Reception immediately after the last lecture concludes. Enjoy snacks and beverages as you connect with all the great people you’ve met during the conference! This is a great way to cap off your conference experience and perhaps meet a few more friends and colleagues before you go.


DPAF 4th Annual Silent Auction
Benefiting Camp Wonder

Location: In person at the SDPA’s Annual Summer Conference and online.

DPAFEach year the DPAF hosts an annual silent auction in honor of the Children’s Skin Disease Foundation’s (CSDF) Camp Wonder. Camp Wonder is a 1-week summer camp for children with severe to life-threatening skin diseases. The camp provides children with the unique opportunity to “just be a kid” away from the prying eyes of the public and those who may not understand their condition. The camp houses the campers and provides 24/7 medical staff to ensure the health and safety of children during their stay. Each year, the Foundation sets a goal of raising $20,000 from the proceeds of the Silent Auction. This goal allows us to sponsor 10 deserving children to attend camp as well as 2 PA volunteers. As part of our mission to provide philanthropic opportunities for PAs in dermatology, the DPAF selects two PAs to volunteer at the camp each year and take part in this unique and life changing experience. (Please note: The DPAF covers the travel costs of the two PA volunteers.)

This year, the DPAF will be hosting its 4th Annual Silent Auction in honor of Camp Wonder. Our 2018 auction was a huge success raising over $11,500 for Camp Wonder. Auction items ranged from Wine Packages with Napa wine tours, Family fun packages with Radio Flyer Wagons, Dermatology and educational tools, art, and more.

The auction opens online May 20, 2019 and closes June 8, 2019. We will be auctioning off special items specific to the conference in Washington D.C. area and the conference itself. These items will have earlier close dates so you can take full advantage of your winning item while at the conference! So be sure to mark the date and win big! All net proceeds go to Camp Wonder so not only do you win, but the campers win!


PROFESSIONAL HEADSHOT studio (New & Improved!)

Friday, June 7 – 10:00am to 1:30pm & 2:30pm to 6:00pm
Saturday, June 8 – 10:00am to 1:00pm & 2:00pm to 6:00pm
(Photographer lunch from 1:30pm – 2:30pm on Thursday and Friday; 1:00pm – 2:00pm on Saturday.)
Located in the Meeting Level 2 Marquis Ballroom area.

The SDPA is pleased to have been offering attendees with complimentary professional headshots for the past few years. To make sure you get the most out of this benefit, we have hired a professional photographer who specializes in headshots. To make sure you look your best, the photographer will have two stylists on site to provide light hair and makeup for touch up before each shoot if desired. Each participant will receive up to 7 curated images within 2-3 weeks after the conference; of those 7 images you can choose two that will be professionally retouched and provided to you in high-resolution format.

Be sure to coordinate your wardrobe for the day you plan to visit the headshot studio. The SDPA will provide white lab coats in various sizes for both men and women to wear during the shoot. To ensure everyone has a chance to get their photo taken, you may be limited to 7 photos.


Mingle Zone

Dates/Times:

Friday, June 7 – 6:30am to 6:00pm
Saturday, June 8 – 7:00am to 5:30pm
Located in the Meeting Level 2 Marquis Ballroom area.

The Mingle Zone, sponsored by Promius Pharma, will be open throughout the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will be a great place to recharge (yourself and your personal devices!), grab a snack and catch-up with friends. Look for signs pointing the way.
