Pre-Conference Program: Fundamentals of Dermatology

7:00am to 4:45pm

The tallest skyscrapers have the strongest foundations. Come to this special one-day course designed to build your core knowledge of skin disease. This course serves those with zero to five years’ experience and held the day prior to the SDPA Annual Fall Dermatology Conference. It will cover clinical pearls, best practice treatments and personal insights on the ordinary to the extraordinary diseases you will encounter in your career. Widen your breadth of knowledge the most efficient and affordable way.

PC1 – Benign and Malignant Skin Lesions When is it harmful or harmless? Learn the key features of the most common benign and malignant lesions so you won’t get burned. Help your patients by attending this informative course and learn when to biopsy and when to leave it alone.

PC2 – Peds and Adolescent Derm  Our youngest patients can have some of the most bizarre skin problems. Acquire the knowledge to care for our youngest clients. Solve their problem and you might just make a patient/fan for life.

PC3 – Autoimmune Disorders of the Skin When the body turns against itself, the outcome may depend on your ability to catch and control the destruction. Vital organs may possibly be saved if you attain the understanding of how and where these illnesses strike.

PC4 – Urticaria and Urticaria-like Eruptions  “I promise the rash was bad yesterday!” Urticaria is so mysterious and frustrating. Study with Dr. English to unlock this mystery and make your clinic day run smoother.  You will delve into when to treat, what are the warning signs of potential problems and when to use new biologic agents.

PC5 – Fever and Rash When the temperature is rising so should your apprehension about not missing these diagnoses! Even a dermatology veteran will learn key tips on how to avoid potentially dangerous delays in treatment.

PC6 – Psoriasis and Psoriasis-like Eruptions It is just a rash or something that has numerous comorbidities you need to involve a multi-specialty approach. Learning about psoriasis and psoriasis-like eruptions will take you on a journey from the normal to the extreme of skin care.

PC7 – Vesiculobullous Some of our most deadly conditions start off with just a blister. Vesiculobullous eruptions are uncommon but can’t be missed. When and where to biopsy are just some of the important lessons you need to know when dealing with this condition. Long-term treatments need to be considered early. Come and learn the things you won’t get from your textbook.

PC8 – Infections Is it a Virus, Fungus, Parasite, or Bacterial? Come learn what is eating you and how to stop it. Your patients will be happy you learned just how to treat their mystery bump when you attend this lecture.  Know the latest drugs and what OTC treatments might just help.

PC9 – Drug Eruptions After we have cured everyone of everything, what could possibly go wrong from the drugs we used? It’s time to learn what harm can be done by the wonders of modern medicine and the prescriptions we write.  If it’s strong enough to help, it’s strong enough to hurt. Get the skills to get you out of trouble with the remedy you chose.

Pre-Conference Program Cancellation Policy

A cancellation fee of $25.00 will be charged for all pre-conference program registrations canceled on or before August 3, 2018. Please allow four (4) weeks for the processing of any approved refund. Cancellations made after this date will be subject to the following refunds:

  • August 4, 2018 thru September 2, 2018 – 50% of Conference Registration fee.
  • September 3, 2018 thru October 2, 2018 – 25% of Conference Registration fee.

After October 2, 2018, no financial refunds or credits will be provided for cancellations. We will accept cancellations after this date for (1) Death in the family (2) Medical reason (3) Natural disaster. If approved for a cancellation of this type, the SDPA will accommodate you with access to online accredited recordings of the conference, once available. Recordings are typically released within 3-4 months after each conference.

SDPA reserves the right to cancel the Conference up to four (4) weeks prior to the event. In the event of cancellation, conference organizers cannot be responsible for reimbursement of airline fees and/or accommodation expenses.
